Mylene studied Fine Art at Hornsey College of Art, then trained as a Shoe Designer in Milan, Italy, where she acquired her professional name: Milena.
After working in that field for a number of years and raising a family, she became interested in Ceramics, taking various courses at Camden Arts Centre and West Dean College, and gaining a City and Guilds Diploma from Harrow College.
Her work is mostly based on the human form, from which she draws regularly, as she considers life drawing as important to artists as scales are to musicians.
She spends some time every year in Tuscany, Italy, where she renews her love of the Art of the Renaissance and extends her skills as a sculptor.
She has been a member of The Barnet Collection for many years, holding various offices, including chair. She is currently Exhibitions Organiser. In that capacity she has recently become a committee member of The Finchley Festival, which takes place annually in July. The Barnet Collection will be the main exhibitors in the Arts Tent and will run various “have-a-go” activities for the public to enjoy.
Milena has recently opened a small Arts Centre in Finchley, North London, in which she continues to teach, promote and practice a wide range of arts and crafts.
