Welcome to The Barnet Collection

The Barnet Collection was founded in 1987 with eleven founding members drawn from the students at Barnet College who had been studying under the tutelage of Sandra Barnett.

The Group formed with the aim of mutual support in the furthering of the Art and Craft of Ceramics, exchange of information, visits to exhibitions, galleries, studios and workshops. Many of the original members have gone on to become professional artists and the group now attracts many high calibre ceramicists and artists in other media, all offering unique and exciting diversity to the Barnet Collection. Each year brings joint exhibitions at a variety of interesting venues, together with workshops and seminars where notable craftspeople are invited to demonstrate their talents.

There are currently 21 members in the Barnet Collection, all of whom contribute to present an exciting programme of exhibitions. Many of the member are currently lecturers in ceramics in various colleges and schools around Barnet and Hertfordshire together with others who simply have a passion for their craft. Members meet frequently throughout the year to plan future events, to source new outlets for their work and to share the genuine enthusiasm that is evident in the group. Members share their expertise and indeed the ethos of the group is to support each other in their craft in a mutually beneficial way. The Barnet Collection has supported - and continues to support - various charities and have donated a considerable sum to many worthwhile causes.
